"Paranormal Activity 4" scares up $4.5 million in late night showings Friday, Oct 19, 2012 02:47 PM PDT LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "Paranormal Activity 4" scared up a frightfully good $4.5 million in late night showings last night, a Paramount spokeswoman said. The latest in the found footage franchise is on pace to rack up between $35 million to $40 million during its opening weekend, which should secure it the top spot in box office rankings ahead of the other big premiere, Tyler Perry's "Alex Cross." Though impressive, that would still be slightly less than the $52 million that "Paranormal Activity 3" opened to about this time last year. ... Full Story | Top |

Thomas Sadoski on Aaron Sorkin, 'The Newsroom' and His Return to theater Friday, Oct 19, 2012 01:50 PM PDT LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Thomas Sadoski owes a lot to a fictional warehouse worker with relationship problems. The 36-year-old actor may now be known to millions of television viewers as the irascible producer Don Keefer on HBO's "The Newsroom." But it was his work on the stage that "introduced" him to "Newsroom" creator Aaron Sorkin. Fall TV: forget trying to please all, narrowcasting thrives Friday, Oct 19, 2012 01:35 PM PDT NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - You may be watching the slow death of broadcasting. Not of broadcast networks - they'll be fine. But the notion that shows can try to appeal to all might be as dated as the image of an old-time farmer broadly casting seeds. This season, some of the most narrowly targeted shows are proving to be the most successful. Few could have predicted that three weeks into the season, NBC would be the top-rated network so far. Or that the biggest premiere - aside from football - would be a cable show about zombies. ... Full Story | Top |

"Paranormal Activity 4": were critics spooked - or just horrified? Friday, Oct 19, 2012 01:24 PM PDT LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "Paranormal Activity 4" may be frightful for all the wrong reasons, if America's critics are to be believed. The latest in the hit horror franchise opens Friday, but the sequel didn't have enough "things that go bump in the night" to warrant glowing reviews. It scored an anemic 29 percent "rotten" rating on the critics' aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. Although the latest found footage scare-fest introduces a new cast of characters, USA Today's Claudia Puig felt it was the "same old, same old" and accused the filmmakers of returning to the trough one too many times. ...
